Wickevoort, Cruquius

93 social housing units, including 20 care homes, communal living room Competition winner

The former Wickevoort estate is being transformed into a landscaped residential area. The neighbourhood will have a completely landscaped setting with green avenues, orchards and space for walking and cycling. Referring to the building types of the estate, this is the main building. A square with a courtyard located along the entrance to the area. Two gates provide access to the courtyard and allow for a winding route.
The building combines residential units with 20 care apartments and a communal living room. The building has continuous terraces around it that serve as outdoor rooms for the homes. The terraces are screened off with green concrete elements with a large opening that provides a spacious view of the landscape, but also a certain degree of shelter. In places where the facades are exposed to noise, the large window is filled with movable glass sections.
